About Turning Point Australia Wellington House

Turning Point Australia Wellington House is a community-based residential withdrawal and stabilisation service in Box Hill, Melbourne. Part of Turning Point’s Addiction Medicine Unit, it supports adults recovering from alcohol and other drug dependence in a structured setting with around-the-clock multidisciplinary care. Clients may transition to Wellington House after receiving more intensive, hospital-based withdrawal care at Turning Point’s 1 East unit. The extended programme provides additional time to stabilise physical and mental health, consolidate medical treatment and prepare for a more independent stage of recovery. Care combines evidence-based therapies with individual recovery planning and practical support. Daily life includes group psychotherapy, mutual-aid meetings, psychoeducation, life-skills development and physical or creative activities. Clients are encouraged to build healthier routines, strengthen interpersonal skills and develop a realistic post-discharge plan that may include counselling, outpatient treatment and community recovery groups. Wellington House offers an accessible, smoke-free environment close to Box Hill Hospital and public transport. The service welcomes men, women and LGBTQ+ clients, with an emphasis on dignity, compassion and non-judgemental care. Admission is by appointment following assessment and referral.
