About The Retreat New Zealand

The Retreat New Zealand is an intimate recovery centre set among native bush and farmland in Warkworth, approximately one hour north of central Auckland. Its peaceful 12-acre setting offers space to step away from everyday pressures and begin recovery within a structured, welcoming community. The centre's 30-day residential programme is grounded in Twelve Step Facilitation, the Minnesota Model and strengths-based care. Individual counselling, group work and peer support are complemented by holistic practices such as yoga, mindfulness, art, sound therapy and acupuncture. Staff members with lived recovery experience help create an atmosphere shaped by empathy, honesty and shared responsibility. Alongside residential rehabilitation, The Retreat provides supervised alcohol detox, outpatient support, recovery coaching, transitional living and sober living. The primary programme is strongly focused on alcohol dependency, while support may also address concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout and relationship difficulties that can accompany addiction. Accommodation includes private and shared room options, with selected rooms offering en suite bathrooms. Guests can enjoy chef-prepared meals, open-plan communal spaces, balconies, courtyards, walking areas and convenient access to nearby beaches, creating a comfortable environment for physical, emotional and spiritual renewal.

Robyn A mothers perspective When Ben and I first walked into the retreat 21/2 years ago, he was scared and desperately seeking help. Addiction had taken him and I was powerless to help, it felt like I was watching him disappear. But this wonderful center didn't just offer treatment, it was a lifeline, a safe harbour for both of us, where Ben could finally let down his guard and begin the terrifying work of healing. He has made wonderful friends here who understand the confusion and pain and they support each other on their journeys. To Janet and the team at the Retreat, thank you for always being there, for your kindness, wisdom, patience and compassion. Today Ben is not defined by his past but by his courage, clarity and commitment to sobriety. We have our son back, we have laughter and hope back and you all helped facilitate that and I will be forever grateful.

23rd Dec 2023 was the day my life changed for ever, I arrived at The Retreat Petrified, and alcohol had me in its grips it was going to take me out! From the first moment I met Janet and the team, I felt this nervous sense of relief. I'll never forget that. I blurted out the years of hiding and shame that my drinking had become. The team calmly said we get it, we've been right where you are now, that there cemented to me this place will get me well! The team taught me so much about why I drink and how to stay stopped and how to manage that. It was mind-blowing. 'You don't know what you don't know'! I'd tried everything only to be deflated right back to the bottle again! I knew this was my best chance of being free from the grips of alcohol Janet and the team at The Retreat I'll be forever great full. 15 months sober, a bloody miracle!

The retreat gave me a life beyond my wildest dreams. They loved me until I could love myself and gave me hope when all hope was lost. I am forever great full for my stay here and would 100% recommend to anyone struggling with the disease of addiction. A safe environment to get clean and everything you need to stay abstinent is taught in the programme. I have a life worth living today so thank you to everyone for the love and support 🥰

I recently had the privilege of attending "The Retreat" for alcohol rehab, and I can say that it was a life-changing experience. With more than 110 days of sobriety under my belt now, I owe an immense debt of gratitude to the entire team at The Retreat. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt a sense of warmth and understanding that was truly comforting. The staff members are exceptional individuals who genuinely care about your well-being. The program's approach to understanding the disease of addiction was really helpful. I gained knowledge into the nature of my struggles and learned to identify triggers that had been leading me down the wrong path. The guidance provided during my stay has equipped me with tools to navigate life's challenges without resorting to alcohol. What truly stands out is the dedication of the staff. Even during moments of difficulty, they were there, offering a helping hand and a listening ear. Their genuine compassion made me feel like I was not alone in my journey. "The Retreat" is more than just a rehab center; it's a sanctuary of healing and transformation. I can confidently say that my time there has been a turning point in my life. If you're seeking a place where you can find not only sobriety but also understanding, support, and a renewed sense of purpose, then I wholeheartedly recommend "The Retreat." My 110 days of sobriety are just the beginning of a brighter future, and I'm eternally grateful for the role they've played in my journey. Thank you, "The Retreat," for helping me rediscover the strength within me and guiding me towards a healthier, happier life.
