About The Freedom Room

The Freedom Room is a welcoming outpatient addiction recovery centre in Carseldine, a northern suburb of Brisbane. Founded in 2021, it supports men and women seeking freedom from alcohol and drug use while continuing to live at home, work and manage everyday responsibilities. Its personalised approach combines professional counselling with the practical insight of a team whose members have lived experience of long-term recovery. Treatment looks beyond substance use alone, helping clients explore underlying trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, grief and relationship concerns in a compassionate, non-judgmental environment. The centre's structured 12-week programme blends individual counselling, recovery coaching, group meetings, family involvement and educational workshops. Evidence-informed therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy are integrated with mindfulness, sound healing, journaling, life-skills development and relapse-prevention planning. Ongoing connection is an important part of The Freedom Room experience. In-person and online recovery meetings, regular check-ins and maintenance options help clients build supportive relationships and practise healthier ways of responding to cravings, triggers and life's challenges.

I can't recommend The Freedom Room highly enough. It has genuinely changed my life. The program gave me the tools, support, and accountability I needed to understand my addiction and build healthier habits. Rachel and everyone involved with the program was professional, compassionate, and never made me feel judged. Instead, they created a safe environment where I could be honest and focus on my recovery. Since starting the program, I've noticed positive changes in every part of my life. My physical and mental health have improved, my relationships are stronger, and I feel more motivated and optimistic about the future. Most importantly, I've gained the confidence to believe that long-term recovery is possible. If you're thinking about getting help but are unsure where to start, I encourage you to give this program a chance. Asking for help was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I'm incredibly grateful for the support I've received.

I’m currently doing the 12-week program at The Freedom Room. From the moment I started, I felt so welcomed. The community is just amazing - everyone is so kind, supportive, and genuinely gets it. You don’t feel judged at all, you just feel seen and understood, which makes such a difference when you’re trying to change your life. Rachel is incredible. She creates such a safe and supportive space for everyone, and you can really feel how much she cares. What makes it even more special is that she’s in recovery herself, so the support she gives comes from real understanding and lived experience, not just education or qualifications. Being surrounded by people who truly understand addiction because they’ve lived it makes such a difference. It’s not just a program, it feels like a place where you actually belong. For the first time, staying sober doesn’t feel like something I have to do alone, and that’s been everything for me.

The Freedom Room has made such a difference to my daughter, and I’m so grateful she’s found a place where she feels understood and supported, and has found freedom from alcohol. I see first-hand how much it’s helped her stay sober and the positive changes it’s made to her life. It’s also brought us closer and improved our relationship in such a meaningful way, which I’ll always be thankful for.

I have recently worked through the 3 month program with The Freedom Room and am now continuing on with their monthly membership. Without Rach and the incredible people I meet with each week I know there would no way I would have not only become sober, but stuck to it by doing the work each and every day. If you are wanting to not only get rid of the way alcohol controls you but change your life for the better this is the place to do it!
