The Cabin Sydney
About The Cabin Sydney
The Cabin Sydney is a specialist outpatient addiction treatment centre in Edgecliff, close to central Sydney. Established in 2015, the clinic supports men and women experiencing alcohol or drug addiction, compulsive behaviours and co-occurring mental health concerns. Its discreet outpatient format is particularly suited to professionals and others who want structured care while remaining connected to work, family and everyday life. Treatment is personalised following a confidential clinical assessment. Programmes combine individual counselling with group-based recovery work, drawing on cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, relapse prevention and 12-Step principles. The team also considers the biological, psychological and social dimensions of addiction, including trauma, emotional health, relationships and the practical challenges of maintaining recovery. The clinic's intensive outpatient pathway offers a structured alternative to residential rehabilitation for suitable clients. Sessions may include psychoeducation, emotional-regulation skills, family support and continuing care, with treatment frequency tailored to the person's needs. Psychiatric assessment and medication review can also be incorporated where clinically appropriate. Located in Eastpoint Tower on Ocean Street, the centre provides an accessible urban setting for people across Sydney and New South Wales. Evening-oriented scheduling and ongoing aftercare are designed to make treatment more manageable for busy adults while helping clients build coping skills, supportive relationships and a sustainable recovery plan.

Real experiences from people who've been there.
The Cabin Sydney offered a safe, encouraging, and highly professional environment from start to finish. The staff were approachable, caring, and consistently supportive, making it easier to feel comfortable and understood throughout the journey. The program was well-organized and thoughtfully designed, helping clients stay focused on their progress and recovery. One of the best parts of the experience was the positive atmosphere and the sincere commitment of the team to each individual’s well-being. Overall, it was an uplifting and worthwhile experience that I would confidently recommend to anyone looking for compassionate and effective support.
My friend's experience at The Cabin Sydney was life-changing. The team provided personalized care and created a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs, helping them navigate through the challenges of addiction. The serene environment allowed them to focus on their recovery, and the compassionate staff made them feel supported every step of the way. From detox to aftercare, my friend felt equipped with the tools necessary to build a sober future. The Cabin Sydney truly offers a transformative experience for anyone ready to take control of their recovery journey.
My nephew recently visited The Cabin Sydney and the experience was outstanding. The staff genuinely care, the program is structured yet flexible, and the support continues well beyond treatment. Truly the best decision our family made.
I am a registered nurse from Australia, and my family and I sent my brother to The Cabin in Thailand due to it's long-standing reputation as a safe, ethical, and well-run rehabilitation facility. We believed we were sending him somewhere that prioritised client safety and accurately represented its practices. Unfortunately, this was not the case. It became apparent that The Cabin is now operating under new ownership, benefiting from its former reputation while no longer upholding the standards it once advertised. Prior to my brother’s admission, I had a consultation with Elijah, who explicitly stated that clients were never taken off-site unsupervised and that clients could not access other clients’ rooms. During my brother’s stay, he attended an AA meeting where clients were taken off-site without supervision. One client absconded, later returned for transport back to the facility, and then entered and trashed my brother’s room. Cigarette butts were placed inside my brother’s hat, cigarettes were thrown across the floor, his bathroom was torn apart, his clothes were scattered throughout the room, wooden boxes were overturned, and his personal recovery notes were ripped apart. This was an incredibly violating and distressing experience. My brother was extremely distressed and did not sleep that night, fearful of what may have happened due to staff’s inability to safely manage another client. Other clients were also visibly frightened, reportedly locking their doors with belts in an attempt to feel safe. Despite requesting counselling support following this incident, my brother was denied access to support. My brother was the first to inform me of what had occurred, followed by an email from his therapist stating that he had “credible reason to leave.” As his family, on the other side of the world, this was an awful and helpless feeling. The way staff interacted with our family throughout this event was emotionless, insensitive, and lacking compassion, which only compounded the distress. Given the seriousness of the incident and the misleading information provided to us regarding supervision and safety, we made the decision to remove my brother from the facility. I was blown away by the unprofessional manner in which The Cabin handled this situation. When I escalated the matter to the CEO after requesting my brother be discharged, he attempted to instil fear by stating, “You know he can access weed anywhere here.” This was an entirely inappropriate and unprofessional response. My brother was at the facility for 16 days of a 6-week program, which we had paid for in full. Despite the discharge being a direct result of The Cabin’s negligence and failure to provide the safety they advertised, no refund was offered for the remaining weeks or even for the compromised portion of his stay. I cannot emphasise enough that I would not recommend this rehab. It has changed significantly since changing ownership, and families should be extremely cautious. Please do not trust this facility with your vulnerable family members.
