The Better Life Place
About The Better Life Place
The Better Life Place is an intimate addiction rehabilitation and mental health retreat in the countryside of Sakon Nakhon, Northeast Thailand. Founded in 2021, the centre keeps occupancy low to provide privacy, personal attention and a calm alternative to larger institutional programmes. Clients stay in comfortable villas surrounded by rice fields, lakes, gardens and village scenery. Treatment is shaped around each person's history, circumstances and recovery goals. The programme combines individual counselling with evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy and relapse prevention. Family therapy, group work, life-skills development and Twelve-Step facilitation may also be incorporated where appropriate. Holistic wellbeing is woven into daily life through mindfulness, yoga, massage, acupuncture, creative therapies and personalised fitness. Chef-prepared meals, outdoor activities and opportunities to experience local Thai culture help clients establish healthier routines while spending meaningful time away from familiar pressures and triggers. Residential, retreat, private therapy and virtual options are available for people addressing substance use, behavioural addictions, trauma and a broad range of co-occurring mental health concerns. With English- and Thai-speaking support, airport transfers and online therapy available, the centre also welcomes international clients seeking discreet, individualised care in Thailand.

Real experiences from people who've been there.
Attended with my family for a day trip. Fantastic for children. We had a fantastic and delicious meal in the outdoor restaurant. I would like to thank Golf for his excellent service. There is a giant box plane which you have to climb stairs to reach the cafe inside. Worth the trip and it only cost 50 baht per person entry if you are not staying at the hotel.
We were attracted to this location by the former Airbus aircraft, we booked the accommodation and were then surprised by how comfortable and modern the rooms were. The toilet seat in our room was heated! And the toilet lid opened automatically. We drove from Udon Thani to stay at this resort. There’s a small admission fee for visitors who aren’t staying overnight at the resort. The highlight is the walk up to the Airbus - it has a cafe located inside it. There is no wheelchair access to the Airbus. The other highlight is the restaurant that serves lunch and dinner - the food was excellent. The customer service is excellent across this resort. It’s a world class resort, and worth the drive to visit. We stayed one night, but I’d recommend staying two nights so that you can experience the different areas of the facility. There’s a go-kart track and miniature ride-on railway here too. The air conditioning in the rooms was excellent.
I’m blown away by this place. I just don’t understand. Why build such a nice resort in the middle of nowhere? Why put automatic toilets and steam free mirrors in the bathrooms? Why have a mini monorail with a tiny train going around the resort? Why plant juniper and pine trees everywhere to make it look like a forest? They also have nice pool, playground for the kids with mini motorised tractors for them to play in the sand pit. And they also have these mini atv cars that you ride around a beautiful garden track. Again none of this makes sense but it’s well appreciated!
Located midway between Udon Thani and Sakhon Nahkon, you will need a car to get here. But well worth the drive. It's a bit like a small theme park. Rooms are very good although ours did suffer a little from a permanent small gap in the back door (Room 601). I can see being back for a few days next time just chilling out.
