Shalom House Perth
About Shalom House Perth
Shalom House Perth is a long-term Christian residential rehabilitation community in Henley Brook, within Western Australia’s Swan Valley. Founded in 2012, the centre supports men and women experiencing substance dependence, gambling problems and other life-controlling concerns through a highly structured programme built around personal responsibility, faith and practical change. The five-stage programme follows a working-rehabilitation model. Residents participate in weekday work, household routines, mentoring and skills development while gradually progressing towards education, employment and greater independence. Group therapy and individual counselling complement a peer-support community in which residents are encouraged to practise communication, conflict resolution, decision-making and accountability. Shalom House takes a holistic and individualised approach, looking beyond substance use to relationships, emotional wellbeing, finances, employment and daily living skills. Christian teaching and church participation are central to the programme, although the organisation states that people from all faith backgrounds are welcome. Family involvement is also encouraged, with support designed to help rebuild important relationships when appropriate. Accommodation is shared and practical, with air-conditioned rooms, shared bathrooms, a basketball court and a smoke-free environment. Adventure outings and community activities offer time away from the regular routine, while the Swan Valley location provides a setting outside central Perth for residents undertaking an extended recovery journey.

Real experiences from people who've been there.
I would like to publicly thank Krystal the manager of the Shalom House Ladies Boutique Cafe. I started going to the cafe with some of my friends around 6 months ago and I would like to share my experience so that other people would be encouraged to visit and enjoy the country ambience of this wonderful cafe in the swan valley. All the food accept the bread is prepared on site and they have a great selection and variety for all to enjoy. To Krystal's credit she has a great team of ladies who prepare the food to an excellent standard and the hospitality makes you want to come back often. I must say it is a rare thing to be able to go to a cafe these days where the coffee, food and service is consistently of a high standard. Once again I would like to thank the business owner Peter Lyndon James and all the staff at the cafe, it is such a treat for my friends and I to have such a place to go to each week.
We engaged Shalom House to replace a fence. In 4 weeks all they have done is remove the old fence. I now know my neighbour has interfered with the process.
A crew of wonderful guys came from Shalom works and did all of my gardening work. They transformed it from a jungle to a place where I can now sit and relax. Thank all of you for all of your hard work Liz Whiting
