About Cyrenian House - Munda Mia

Cyrenian House - Munda Mia is a women-only residential rehabilitation community in Kalamunda, approximately 40 minutes east of central Perth. Established in May 2022, the service supports women addressing alcohol and other drug use, trauma and co-occurring mental health concerns. Mothers may be able to bring children aged five and under into treatment with them. The programme follows a strengths-based therapeutic community model built around social learning, mutual support and personal responsibility. Each resident receives an individual treatment plan and progresses through a four-stage programme shaped around her needs and recovery goals. Group therapy, individual counselling, case management, relapse-prevention work and practical education are woven into daily community life. Munda Mia also addresses circumstances that can complicate recovery, including family and domestic violence, housing instability, parenting challenges, emotional regulation and perinatal mental health. Its gender-specific environment is designed to help women build confidence, practise healthier boundaries and develop practical skills for life beyond residential care. Set near the Darling Scarp in the Perth Hills, the property offers a peaceful environment with outdoor areas, recreation spaces and access to nature. Cyrenian House provides culturally responsive care and works to make its services inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse, and LGBTQ+ communities.
