Cyrenian House - Gnangara Program
About Cyrenian House - Gnangara Program
Cyrenian House’s Gnangara Program provides structured residential treatment for adults experiencing problems related to alcohol or other drug use. Operating within the Rick Hammersley Centre Therapeutic Community, the four-stage program welcomes men and women aged 18 and over and helps each resident build a treatment plan around their personal needs and recovery goals. Care follows an evidence-based therapeutic community model, where everyday group living becomes part of the recovery process. Positive peer support, shared responsibilities and guided therapeutic activities encourage self-awareness, accountability and healthier ways of relating to others. The strengths-based philosophy focuses not only on abstinence, but also on sustainable improvements in wellbeing, daily functioning and quality of life. Residents can access individual counselling, therapeutic and educational groups, case management, life-skills development, creative therapies, recreation and fitness. Medical services, community-based self-help groups, exit planning and referrals to aftercare support are also incorporated into the wider program. The residential community is set on 32 acres of semi-rural bushland approximately 30 minutes north of Perth. Gardens, outdoor gathering areas, recreation spaces and private or shared accommodation provide a calm, community-oriented setting in which residents can concentrate on recovery. The campus is smoke- and vape-free, with support available for residents adjusting to a tobacco-free environment.
